Our Group CEO, Georges Elhedery, has been named Banker of the Year in the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026.

Euromoney recognised Georges for bringing HSBC into “a new and fundamentally different era”, adding that “he is allowing it to focus more on what matters for the future of the business – growth”.

It said that, under Georges’s leadership, “HSBC has transformed at an unparalleled pace for such a large and international bank”.

“The recipe for getting things done quickly has been a willingness to act and a willingness to listen: so that when big decisions were announced, they could be implemented with precision,” Euromoney said.

Georges said: “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition. It reflects the work of 210,000 colleagues across HSBC and the trust our customers place in us every day.

“Awards recognise what has been achieved. They also remind us that one of our greatest privileges is to help our customers realise their ambitions.”
