The signs are here. The tides are turning, the market is changing now. A hotbed of tech innovation, Central Eastern Europe is not to be missed and it’s easy to find on the map at Unchain Fintech Festival, in Oradea, the heart of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

This summer, between the 29th and 30th of June 2023, the old city of Großwardein will become once more the ground zero for innovation in financial services. The city’s old fortress will be taken over by over 500 central and commercial bankers, financial service providers, technology companies, fintech innovators, investors and ecosystem players, turning the ancient walls into a veritable fintech fortress meant to put CEE on the Global map of fintech innovation.

“Oradea used to be at the crossroads of commercial routes connecting the Orient with the Occident, such as it is today at the heart of CEE for innovation in financial services. The old walls that used to protect the city have now turned into a FinTech fortress and are today shielding and inspiring a new army of entrepreneurs and visionaries.” stated Csaba Bálint, CA Member, National Bank of Romania, speaker in last year’s event.

“There was no previous communication between the regional players and there was a strong need to start a community for the CEE region – a forum for banks and fintechs that come together and figure out ways to collaborate and work together in the future.” previous event attendees have stated. A short glimpse into the festival experience can be seen in the event aftermovie.

The relaxed festival atmosphere is complemented by solid market knowledge and in-depth content from the most relevant experts in the region. Covering topics like: innovation and regulation, digital currencies, CDBCs, payments, lending, security, open banking and open finance, web3, blockchain, innovation and new tech stack and technologies on the rise.

Moreover, the drive for fintech & blockchain innovation brings together 100+ startups, investors and business mentors into a 2-day pitching competition and networking program to boost even further regional collaboration and growth. Preceding the summer festival, a series of online events will bring a closer spotlight on the disrupting potential the region has to uncover. The first event of the series will take place on March 23rd 2023 and will focus on Hungary 🇭🇺, Croatia 🇭🇷, Slovenia 🇸🇮, and Serbia 🇷🇸. “We are still in the early stages of true fintech, as the future impact of open banking, cloud computing, IoT, artificial intelligence, and blockchain cannot even be estimated yet. Each year, tech companies are digging deeper into the financial services value chain and also creating new market structures. The fintech market is expected to grow annually by 12% until 2027 and Unchain Fintech Festival aims to benefit the CEE region with the expected fintech market expansion and growth”, states Alexandra Pollack, Unchain Fintech Festival Co-founder and CEO.
