There are many companies present at this years Quant Strats Europe in the City of London. Most attendees at the event are looking for ideas on how to generate alpha. Some are looking for ideas on how to leverage artificial intelligence. All of them use data. And many of them are quants. This year’s main sponsor is KX, a company that supports the needs of the buy side and sell side.
KX is the leading technology for real-time data analytics and decision intelligence. Built on the kdb+ time series database, KX is an industry-leading high-performance, in-memory computing, streaming analytics and operational intelligence platform. It purports to deliver the best possible performance and flexibility for high-volume, data-intensive analytics and applications across multiple industries.
At this year’s Quant Strats Europe, KX is the most visible company here. The simple and catchy branding is impossible to avoid. Which is why the DisruptionBanking team decided to shed some light on how the company is supporting the needs of the buy side and sell side.
One of the flagship products at KX is KDB.AI. Launched in late 2023 the KDB.AI Server is a highly-performant, scalable, vector database for time-orientated generative AI and contextual search.

The Main Areas KX can help
Although KX’s products are available to a wide variety of companies today, the financial services sector remains a big focus. KX’s products can help several processes for buy side and sell side participants. Here are a few of them:
Pre-Trade Analytics
Accelerated insights with unmatched scale and precision
Outdated trade lifecycle analytics can undermine performance and strategic initiatives. The KX AI and analytics platform enables the creation of a digital twin of capital markets, providing real-time insights into post-trade analytics performance.
Post-Trade Analytics
Optimize trading strategies with advanced modelling
Processing complex market data can be daunting. KX’s technology delivers analytics on extensive volumes of historical data, providing valuable insights for future order execution
Quantitative Research
Expedite insights and model accuracy
Quants often struggle to test research models accurately at the required speeds. The KX platform overcomes these limitations by enabling more timely and precise decision-making
Backtesting
Rapid testing, enhanced accuracy, and scalable backtesting
Speed and accuracy are crucial when backtesting trading strategies using historical and real-time data. KX’s vector-native products allow for the development of more accurate trading strategies, allowing for rapid simulations of trading hypotheses at scale.
Real-Time Visibility
Gain instant access to live data and accelerate decision-making
Financial services organizations face significant obstacles in their real-time decision-making processes. KX’s platform processes data sets within milliseconds, enabling trading desks to monitor real-time conditions, seize market opportunities, and negate threats.
Who does KX partner with?
Whilst KX has an impressive list of clients that it works with, perhaps the strength of its partners deserves more attention. These partners include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, databricks, and snowflake. In fact, KX rubs shoulders with key industry players like Nvidia too, the company releases regular updates and webinars. These webinars often feature industry leaders from firms like Nomura, Citi, and a host of others.
What does this mean for companies looking to engage with KX? It means that you don’t have to worry about yesterdays topics like on-prem or cloud. It means you can focus on developing your quantitative strategies knowing that you partner with a market leader like KX.
The company recently produced an ebook explaining more, which interested parties can access here.

Why KX is at QuantStrats this Year
The team at KX are at some of the most important events related to AI and financial services. In May the KX team was represented at the AI in Capital Markets Summit London. The company was also nominated as ‘Best Transaction Cost Analysis for Best Execution’ at the RegTech Insight Awards USA 2024. The company has also been involved with the Quant community in Hong Kong.
However, Quantstrats is a different proposition. We asked Jennifer Levine, EMEA Senior Marketing Manager of KX why Quantstrats is important to the company, and any takeaways the team have already garnered from today’s conference:
“Sponsoring the Quant Strats Europe event gives KX the opportunity to talk with quants and hedge fund managers who are on the forefront of solving tough problems in the areas of quantitative research and real-time data analytics.” Jennifer shared.
“The attendees are looking for innovative and efficient ways to apply new technologies in their space, and KX strives to be a critical partner for them as they explore new capabilities to support high-frequency trading, backtesting, and real-time data processing. The conversations that we’ve had during the event help us better understand the challenges and goals of these folks, allowing us to better align and improve our capabilities to better serve them.”
