IFRS Foundation´s International Sustainability Standards Board on the Right Track, Says IOSCO

Speaking at COP26 today, Ashley Alder, Chairman of IOSCO (and CEO of the Hong Kong SFC), welcomed the publication by the IFRS Foundation of the prototype for the Climate Disclosure standard to be finalized in 2022 and told delegates that the IFRS Foundation is making good progress towards issuing the climate disclosure standard in 2022.

The members of the Monitoring Board are the Board of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the IOSCO Growth and Emerging Markets Committee, the Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA), the European Commission, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM) of Brazil, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Korea and the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China.
Ashley Alder, Chair of the IOSCO Board, said: “Though the Annual Meeting was virtual this year, members made tremendous progress in addressing the emerging risks arising from the COVID 19 pandemic and other critical matters such as climate change and financial stability issues. IOSCO has proven it can respond quickly and effectively to events that could harm investors and undermine market integrity.”
