How The Black Swan Summit Made an Impact in Western Australia

This year has seen a lot of change. Places like Perth in Western Australia has not been immune to this change. This week industry leaders, technologists and policymakers met at the University of Western Australia’s Winthrop Hall to commence the inaugural Black Swan Summit.

Pawsey Supercomputer Tour

One of the highlights of the first day of the Summit awas the Pawsey Supercomputer Tour. Attendees explored how supercomputing and advanced technologies are shaping our future. From quantum computing to AI and health science, the discussions focussed on how high-performance computing can support transformative technologies.

DUG Technologies Tour

DUG is an ASX-listed Australian technology company. The company delivers tailored geoscience services and software, reliable cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC), and novel immersion-cooling systems, backed by bespoke support.

Summit participants explored two impressive computer systems: ‘Bruce’ – their revolutionary immersion-cooled supercomputer facility, and the ‘DUG Nomad’ mobile data centre solution engineered for maximum resilience in challenging environments.

The Summit Stage Day 1

Dr. Andrzej Gwizdalski, Project Lead at the Black Swan Summit, opened the first day of the Summit. The event is moderated by the charismatic Amanda Wick, who joined Andrzej on stage. 

The first day was busy with keynotes and panels covering a host of innovative topics like:

  • What it Means to be a Machine: An Interdisciplinary Perspective on the Future of Humanity – Machine Coexistence
  • The Quantum Revolution is Here – Are You Ready?
